Bury the Sound “Autumn Magnets” – Luna Kafe

July 31st, 2007

Excerpt – “I was really pleased by Bury the Sound’s self-released debut almost two years back. And, here’s more of the same, dreamy stuff… Their sound and music stretch towards cinematic landscapes. Think night time, big cities with slowly shifting city lights, half empty streets with lazy strolling night people. Think independent movies, think black and white… Autumn Magnets is a very fine EP. BTS have created a very clean and clear, rich and crisp sound, with instruments just fitting each other quite perfectly. The challenge will be (if/when) to come up with a long player with the same focus and quality.”

Bury the Sound “Autumn Magnets” – Textura

July 30th, 2007

Excerpt – “‘What Would One Become’ eases into view slowly with an elegant electric guitar and ride cymbal combination but soon incrementally swells in force… propelled by drummer Shannon Hayes’ fierce attack. Lush tonal and percussive textures lend the more subdued ‘Saratoga’ a dreamy and meditative vibe, though Hayes’ aggressive beatsmithing prevents the tune from getting too ponderous. Porecki’s delicate piano ruminations move to the fore on ‘Gemini Unbound’, at least until jagged guitar stabs nearly drown it out. It’s the most atmospherically varied piece of the three, with raw, explosive episodes alternating with quiet, bass-dominated passages. Based on the material here, Bury the Sound could be described as a natural first cousin to kindred outfits Run_Return and Do Make Say Think.”
