Toby Richardson Live!!!

April 25th, 2008

Finally the moment has arrived. Toby Richardson will grace the stage this weekend (after way too many years) with his band The Surround Sound in support of the wonderful French Rockets. When we say band, we mean drummer. Yes Toby Richardson and The Surround Sound will perform as a two piece! If you thought The Black Keys had it going on live then you aint seen nothing yet. To witness the splendour head to the Whitesands Hotel ( Perth, Western Australia) at 8PM on Saturday April 26th (free entry!). Even better news for T.R. fans is that this will be the start of much larger live presence.

And if you haven’t been spinning Toby’s latest lo-fi opus Evergreen then head over here to listen in full and buy it.

The Slow Beings Single Released, Download it for Free!

April 22nd, 2008

Hidden Shoal Recordings today announced the release of ‘I Waste The Sea’, the first cut to be taken from the brilliant forthcoming album by Perth-based ante-indie rock outfit The Slow Beings.

“The song is a hook filled, inebriated anthem, continually falling towards its demise yet somehow managing to pull itself up to a defiant standing position…With lyrical references to Deleuze and knowing nods towards 90’s grunge and Britpop ‘I Waste The Sea’ typifies the wonderful duality and underlying playfulness at work within The Slow Beings’ music…the track proves a fantastic example of The Slow Beings’ knack for somehow re-inventing the edges of indie rock and pop through a reverence for its form and power, yet irreverence in its handling.”- Press Release Excerpt

‘I Waste The Sea’ is available now from the Hidden Shoal Recordings Store. The single will be available for free download until The Slow Beings’ debut album We Know Why The Earth Moves sees its digital release on 20th May 2008. The CD release and album launch is scheduled for June 28th, 2008.
