The Slow Beings ‘I Waste The Sea’ - Luna Kafe

May 28th, 2008

Excerpt: “the toughest music I’ve heard from the Hidden Shoal label so far… In ‘I Waste The Sea’’s rear window there’s both grunge (Nirvana) and Britpop (Blur), and maybe also traces from New Zealand’s 1980s Kiwi pop scene. It’s a powerful song with a nice pop hook… makes me excited to hear what’s to come.”

Sankt Otten’s Wir koennen ja Freunde bleiben Available Through Tonevendor

May 26th, 2008

Wonderful news for Sankt Otten fans, their exquisite first album through Hidden Shoal Recordings Wir koennen ja Freunde bleiben is now being distributed on CD through Tonevendor. If you need a reminder why this album is so good then read on,

“Traversing the realm of noirish cinematic pop, Sankt Otten draw inspiration from such musical inventors as - Morricone, John Barry, Talk Talk - and the modern adaptors - Portishead, Bohren und der Club of Gore, David Holmes…Wir können ja Freunde bleiben (Let’s Remain Friends), is an intensely orchestrated, creamily thick bed of electronic soundscapes, slow-motion drums and the twanging noir guitars of Oliver Klemm (of “Pendikel” fame), winding through the recordings like a thin red line. If Morricone collaborated with Talk Talk, the result would sound something like this.”

The album will be available in stores throughout the US as well as through the Tonevendor website. If your local store doesn’t stock then tell them to get their act together and order it through Tonevendor! Expect more Sankt Otten/Tonevendor news soon.
