Moongoat Reviews

Moongoat “Moongoat” - Blood Ties

February 21st, 2007

Excerpt - “It’s pretty “musical” in the traditional sense with a lot of harmony, but there is also a healthy dose of movement and layers. This kind of reminds me of a mix of Robert Fripp, Brian Eno, Cel, and the latest Tribes of Neurot album…Each track has it’s own feeling here which I really enjoy and it all stays in a realm that seems covered with a dim green light….There are interesting little details included in all these tracks, whether it be the converging melodic and harmonic lines, or the shuffling and breaking of glass lying just underneath the drones….This is an enjoyable mix of field samples and synth ambient and I recommend this to any fan of electronica-influenced or peaceful ambient. Definitely worth the download. “

Moongoat “Moongoat” - Ambient Music Guide

February 7th, 2007

Excerpt - “This 5-track debut release from Australian duo Moongoat is the kind of music that makes wading through hours of experimental electronic ambient worthwhile. The first three tracks are airy, landscaped, abstract ambient sketches with barely perceptible traces of tonal sound. Despite their minimal nature they are not static; all have a palpable sense of slow but constant drift and I found them immediately engaging…….Different and worth your attention.”

Moongoat “Moongoat” - Calmscape

January 1st, 2007

Excerpt - “Sounds of broken glass, a squeaky door, vocal effects, piano notes, weird sounds that place you in an uncertain time, lost somewhere in the night. It has a strong beginning and one by one the tracks build up the energy that is never released. It is overall an interesting rather dark experience that ends abruptly and leaves you wondering.”
